Remote Vehicle Diagnostics

Today’s automobiles are more complicated than ever and keeping up with the latest technologies and servicing them is a full-time job. Equipment is expensive, and these specialized technicians expect to be highly compensated for the knowledge and skills to properly operate them. No longer is the issue just how to reset a check engine MIL or diagnose an inoperable component. Now vehicles have multiple BCMs, Blind spot monitoring, Adaptive cruise control, satellite link ups, and Passive entry just to scrape the surface. We have the capabilities of not only keeping with the latest technologies, but to make our process the least complicated for you, and at NO out of pocket costs. You don’t purchase equipment. You don’t have to hire or train technicians to operate it. You don’t bear the liability of scanning vehicles. We take care of it for you, and you bill out and mark up for our services.

Remote Vehicle Diagnostics

Recently OE automakers have instituted the new process of Pre and Post Scanning to verify that a vehicle repair has been properly completed to their parameters. This includes checking that all systems have been reset and operating as per factory specifications. Simply checking the dash for MILs is no longer satisfactory, as systems that are out of calibration may still function without a ‘light on the dash’, but not within the parameters of sensors reading as they are expected. Repair facilities are finding that vehicles leaving their shops lacking these scans are having to cover additional repairs at their own expense. Pre-scans are the most viable way to have a more complete estimate before parts are even ordered. No more repairing vehicles that go over threshold after the fact because an unknown airbag or electronic component was missed on the initial paperwork. Post-scans allow the facility to completely reset all electrical systems and identify needed calibrations before the owner takes possession and is on the road. If the vehicle leaves the facility without a full reset or proper calibrations, the owner may take the vehicle to the dealer expecting warranty repairs and instead is handed an invoice for incomplete repairs. The next in line to reimburse these costs is the shop that it left from after the job has been closed.

About Our Company

We have as individuals, over 24 years of hands on experience in the automotive electrical field. If you research similar businesses, they may say collectively they have 20 years of experience. Reading between the lines, they likely have 5 or so technicians that have a couple years a piece, adding up to 20 or so years. We have been around a while, and despite the best efforts of our competitors, we aren’t leaving any time soon. We have been here since the first airbags were introduced into vehicles, before vehicles had anti-theft circuitry of any kind, much less smart- keys. Not to purposefully age ourselves, but pagers were popular, while cell phones were still pretty rare.

We have technicians that worked with the authorities in the early 90’s to figure out how the “theft proof cars” were truthfully being stolen, and the owners of said vehicles should not be investigated for supposed fraud.  After threatening lawsuits, OEM engineers flew out for demonstrations just to be proven wrong. (followed by some colorful language) We were able to have unsuspecting car owners exonerated of insurance fraud. (It’s amazing what a subwoofer magnet and a pick could accomplish in starting a “theft proof car”) We have taken part in investigating multiple recalls and numerous TSBs across different brands.

That’s where we started. Since then, we still work with DPS officers and accident investigators to discover why a ‘completely destroyed’ car had no airbag deployment. Or why this particular model of import sedan after being involved in a collision has had an abundance of harness fires after repairs were completed. We absorb the latest technology, so that we are better technicians for our customers.

Since we joined this particular niche industry, the automakers have added Transponder keys, Occupant Classification, GPS tracking, CANbus systems, multi-CANbus systems, Auto-stop/start, Multiple displacement/ Variable valve timing engines, Variable Transmissions, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Adaptive Cruise Control. Also, the technicians’ favorite- the Hybrid. Safety systems require more than just “making the light go out” We do Automotive electrical better than anyone else. If we find better technicians, we hire them. We are sons and daughters. We are parents and grandparents. We take our repairs very seriously because our customers are too.

WHY CHOOSE US?

Our equipment starts out as a readily available scan tool, which due to being an open-source Android platform, we modify to suit our specific market needs, and continue to upgrade as our market changes. This allows us to keep our tool production costs lower, and in turn, lower cost to you. You spent nothing, and together we added income on both sides, while covering the OEM requirements for Pre and Post Scanning.

R.V.D. maintains ownership of the interfaces, covers the licensing costs, and performs the software updates. Our technicians perform the required scans and procedures. No headaches, no fuss, and no expense for someone else’s soon to be outdated tool purchase. No additional payroll liabilities or sick days.

Security/ Privacy Disclaimer: Our software as written, disallows any of our technicians to the privileged/confidential information within the vehicle that would be available to 3rd party vendors accessing the vehicle directly. This includes transponder key copying information, GPS history, “bread crumbing”- which contains where the vehicle has been and way points that are set by the insured* This includes, but not limited to- location of home and history of departure/return, location/time of school departures/pick-ups, work location/history, phone contacts, music playlists, or access to security gates and/or garage door openers. Any concerns regarding the information our technicians are capable of viewing will be fully vetted prior to completion of contract.
